Management of Track Circuits in a Metro Environment

Track Circuits are electrical devices exploited to detect the presence (or not) of trains on rail tracks.

These devices constitute the TC system, a component of the Comand&Control System that enables automatic train protection functions.

Currently, TCs maintenance consists of both Corrective and Preventive Maintenance, primarily relying on the operators' experience with limited support from ICT tools, especially during the decision-making process.

The specific objectives of this scenario consist in optimizing the management of this procedure by improving the situational awareness of TC status and using Prescriptive Analytics to provide a holistic approach that can automatize most TCs maintenance procedures. In this way, it will be possible to support the operators through all the steps of the maintenance process, leaving them the final decision.
